March Madness

It has been another busy month in the Building Bridges Hand In Hand world. Our March Rare Breed dinner was successful as always. Thank you to everyone who came out and volunteered and/or helped donate. We were able to feed several of our communities homeless and at risk young adults. Although these dinners seem so simple to many of us, to those who come and eat, these dinners could be the one night of peace and solitude that many of these young adults rarely experience. We have an amazing bunch of volunteers at BBHIIH and none of the things we do would be possible without each and every individual.

As Easter approaches and we start planning for Easter egg hunts and family dinners, we need to remind not only others but ourselves as well, of the true story and meaning behind Easter; the resurrection of Jesus Christ. As God’s children, we are taught to serve others and be kind to one another. To wrap up the month of March, we have two, fun-filled Easter themed events. On Saturday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m., we will be at Harmony House in Springfield Missouri. Rory, our BBHIH Easter bunny will be on site taking photos and handing out Easter Eggs to those who are residents. Harmony House is Springfield Missouri’s leading domestic abuse shelter. Most of these survivors have come to Harmony House with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Some even have children. BBHIH will be giving these amazing women and their children an Easter that they can enjoy and have fun, while feeling safe and not having to worry. If you are interested in volunteering please go to BBHIH.org or contact Cherie Rowden at [email protected]. Due to the circumstances surrounding this event, the staff at Harmony House wish that volunteers and anyone who is interested in attending be female only. Thank you for your understanding.  On Monday March 26 at 4:15 pm, we will be at Cox South Hospital pediatric wing. There are tons of children who would want nothing more than to be able to go home and celebrate Easter with their family, but due to medical issues beyond their control, they have to be at the hospital. We at BBHIH, along with Rory (the bunny) will be hopping around the children’s unit, taking pictures, passing out eggs, and letting these kiddos know they are the true superheroes in life. You can go to BBHIH.org and under events to get more information and to sign up to volunteer and/or donate.
