End of the year Events and Campaigns

2017 is almost behind us and as we are all preparing for the holidays and thinking about what the new year will be bringing, we are also reminded that winter is approaching. That is why Building Bridges-Hand In Hand has started the annual Warm Hearts campaign. Now through December 21st, we will be collecting new and/or gently used blankets, gloves, hats, socks, and hand warmers. Our goal is to collect 300 of each so we can distribute them to the young adults and their children at our Rare Breed CHRISTmas dinner on December 27th. This is a great chance to clean out closets before the start of a new year and help those who in need of staying warm during those cold days and nights.

As Christmas is quickly approaching and we are all making plans with our families and friends on how to spend the holiday season, there are many children, teens, and adults who are trying to plan on how they will get their next meal, stay warm throughout the winter and where they will be sleeping from night to night. Building Bridges-Hand in Hand has partnered with Rare Breed through out the years to provide homeless youth in our community a feeling of belonging and help provide them with resources and basic necessities to start a better life. Our annual Rare Breed CHRISTmas dinner will be taking place on December 27, 2017 at the 425 Downtown Events Venue. If you and someone you know would like to volunteer and/or donate in any way you can please go to our website at BBHIH.org and click on events. The website provides a detailed list of what is needed along with a volunteer/donation sign up sheet. This will help us keep track of what we are in need of before the event. This is going to be a wonderful time to get to know the stories of members of our community that you may have never known. During a survey that was taken in November of 2017 at the Rare Breed center, there was a reported 90 young adults that are currently homeless. That does not include those who were not able to take part in the survey. This dinner is a great chance to help those in need. There will be a photographer on site that will be taking and distributing pictures to the young adults. There will be a play area for the babies/children, stockings will be handed out as well. We will also be distributing the items we collect from the WARM HEARTS collection drive. This will be a traditional CHRISTmas dinner and will bring tons of laughter, smiles and memories. Thank you to everyone who continues to make this all possible. God Bless all of you!!!
